What is Tor?
Tor is an open network that provides help for web users to improve their privacy and security on the internet by directing their TCP/IP traffic through a volunteer network consisting of three relays called "onions". Onions are Layered Encryption Protocols that obscure the user's IP address and conceal their information from trackers. Tor encrypts the user's traffic and bounces it around a volunteer network of Tor nodes before releasing it back into the open internet. Tor has been deployed by many government organizations, including Naval Research Laboratory, United States Congress, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), European Parliament, The New York Times and others.
Reason #1 - Protect Your Privacy Online
The internet is a powerful tool. It can be used to do amazing things, but it can also be used to do some pretty terrible things. One of the worst things you can do is use your real identity online.
Having your real name and personal information attached to your online activity opens you up to a world of hurt. You might find yourself in a situation where someone has hacked into your accounts, or worse yet, they have hacked into your phone and they are listening in on all of the conversations you have with friends and family members.
Reason #2 - Access Geo-restricted Content
This is a question that many people are asking, as they have been looking for ways to watch Netflix outside the US. This is possible by using a proxy server.
The private proxies are also have a great speed connection, so there will be no freezes even watching Netflix. By the tons of positive reviews such proxies are available at https://proxy-sale.com/en/ for example.
One way of doing this is by changing your IP address to that of the country you want to connect from.
However, this can be done in two ways; either by using a VPN or by using a proxy server.
A VPN uses encryption and other techniques to make it difficult for anyone to know what you are doing online, and it will also allow you access to geo-restricted content like Netflix from anywhere in the world. A proxy server does not encrypt your traffic and therefore can be detected more easily, but it does not require any additional software on your computer or phone like a VPN does.
Reason #3 - Block Ads on Specific Sites
There are many reasons that people block ads. Some of them include:
- Ads are annoying and interrupt the browsing experience
- Ads slow down the loading time for web pages.
- Ads can cause malware to be downloaded onto your computer when clicked on
- Ads can take up an excessive amount of bandwidth on your internet connection, which can lead to slower web browsing speeds.
